Brock’s Story
My son Brock, a corner infielder, began experiencing elbow pain at the end of his high school baseball season that limited his throwing and ability to play the field. After multiple bouts of physical therapy with two different physical therapists, Brock’s elbow was again in pain with the same issues he had 4 months earlier. We were all frustrated. We decided to get a second opinion from a different large local ortho and sports medicine provider. Understanding our frustration with the months of unproductive PT work, the surgeon (to his credit) suggested we see Ben at MVP Sports Rehab.
I initially noticed that MVP Sports Rehab was “out of network”. However, when comparing his fees with what I was paying the other PT organizations the difference was only slightly more and ultimately well worth it given how effective the treatment turned out to be.
Brock immediately began treatment with Ben, who balanced strength, ability, biofeedback, and mechanics to ramp up the intensity of throwing. His communication was excellent and beyond what I had experienced with other medical providers. Brock began throwing 100% in mid September and had NO issues with his elbow. Full recovery!
Ben Schwarz and MVP Sports Rehab were able to accomplish what two large, local orthopedic sports organizations were not, and I could not be more pleased with the experience and results. I recommended Ben and his group to everyone looking for honest, professional, and effective sports injury rehabilitation, particularly for baseball related injuries.
Brogan’s Story
Our son is a high school pitcher who sustained a SLAP tear injury to his shoulder while playing football. After his injury he was unable to throw a baseball without considerable pain. We started physical therapy at a larger clinic with a therapist recommended for baseball players, but we were seeing limited progress.
We met with Ben at MVP Sports Rehab for an initial consultation. He took time to review the injury and then walked us through his approach to treatment which was significantly more intense and responsive to our son’s needs. It was immediately clear to us as we listened to Ben talk that he was well-versed in this particular type of injury and how to rehab it for pitchers.
Within a short time at MVP Sports Rehab, my son was able throw without pain. He was able to pitch at 100% that summer, with a stronger, more stable shoulder. I think if we had started right away with Ben, he probably would’ve been recovered in time to try out for his high school team.
Although Ben was out of network with our insurance, the treatment he provided was far superior, and we decided to move forward with Ben without knowing if our insurance would cover any of the cost. Ben provided us with Superbills, and were able to submit these claims to our insurance and fortunately received reimbursement for the majority of the cost.
We strongly recommend Ben and MVP Sports Rehab to any baseball player that has sustained an injury, and wants to get back to the game as quickly as possible at 100%!
Alex’s Story
Our son, Alex had been playing baseball since 4th grade and had always been a pitcher. Alex was diagnosed with spondylosis, a fracture on the spine from constant repetitive motion of throwing and hitting. Alex began his physical therapy with a larger local clinic before working with Ben at MVP Sports Rehab.
Insurance “covered the cost” (there was still significant out of pocket costs) at the larger PT clinic, but we found out that rehabbing at MVP Sports Rehab without insurance was significantly less, at least for us. Even if the cost was more, it was worth it for us to work with Ben.
Ben was great at communicating with us about what was happening to Alex. We’ve worked with other physical therapists and never saw or heard from them whereas Ben would talk to us after each session to let us know how Alex was progressing. He is extremely approachable and knowledgeable, especially when it comes to baseball injuries and kept us informed while answering our questions throughout the entire process. Alex also received more one-on-one time per session compared to the other PT clinics. It was a long process but Alex made a full recovery and was able to go back to pitching again. We would highly recommend working with Ben at MVP Sports Rehab. Truly the best physical therapist we’ve ever worked with.
Luke’s Story
My son Luke has been down a long road since his initial elbow injury. Multiple visits to the doctor, followed by 2 bouts of physical therapy at other clinics with minimal results, Luke ended up missing two High School baseball seasons. Then we finally were connected with MVP Sports rehab. After the initial consultation with Ben at MVP Sports Rehab, we were hopeful this would be a path to getting back on the mound. Those hopes were met and exceeded.
Ben takes the time to sit down with you and create an individualized plan for your specific injury. In our experience with other PT clinics this was definitely unique and different. A weekly plan was communicated to us with exercises to be done at home along with in person sessions a couple times a week. We were initially skeptical of having to pay for the sessions out of pocket but, we came to find out that pricing was very competitive to other PT groups, plus you get way more content and personal attention with Ben. In the end it was the best decision we could have made.
Since working with Ben at MVP Sports Rehab Luke has been injury free and is getting ready for his first College baseball season. We thank Ben and MVP Sports Rehab for helping Luke get back on the mound.
Ben’s Story
As a parent of a passionate baseball player, I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Ben. When our son suffered a serious injury on the field, we were devastated and unsure of where to turn. Thankfully, we found Ben, and it was a game-changer in every sense of the word.
From the moment we met Ben, his dedication and expertise were evident. He took the time to thoroughly assess our son’s injury and develop a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to his specific needs. What truly stood out was Ben’s ability to not only address the physical aspects of the injury but also provide emotional support to our son during a challenging time.
Throughout the rehabilitation process, Ben went above and beyond to ensure our son felt supported and motivated. His genuine care and encouragement played a crucial role in his recovery journey. As a parent, seeing our son regain his strength and confidence with each session was truly remarkable.
Moreover, Ben actively involved us in our son’s treatment plan, keeping us informed every step of the way and offering valuable guidance on injury prevention strategies. His professionalism and genuine concern for our son’s well-being were evident in every interaction.
Thanks to Ben’s expertise and unwavering support, our son not only recovered from his injury but returned to the field stronger, more resilient, and throwing harder than ever before. As a parent, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing your child pursue their passion with confidence and joy, and we owe it all to Ben.
I wholeheartedly recommend Ben to any parent seeking top-notch care for their young athlete. His dedication, expertise, and compassionate approach make him a true lifesaver for families navigating the challenges of sports-related injuries. We are forever grateful for everything he’s done for our son and our family.
Adrian’s Story
Adrian is a baseball player for Eden Prairie High School.
Adrian started care for his shoulder injury first with orthopedic urgent care. He then tried acupuncture and sports chiropractic care before a MRI diagnosed a superior labrum tear of his right shoulder. He worked with a physical therapist, known to work with throwing athletes. He made some progress, but when he began regular throwing his pain returned. He then sought out an opinion of an orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon felt like if he had completed a PT program that surgery would be indicated. We learned of MVP and made an appointment with Ben.
Ben did not feel very optimistic after hearing the journey that led us to him. He agreed to assess Adrian and see for himself.
Our first evaluation with Ben was incredible, he found the focal area of weakness and felt like we could try his program. Ben's approach was specific to what my son needed. He worked with him closely and supervised his return to throwing efforts. Ben allows access to the training space for individual work, but Ben is always there making sure proper technique is followed.
I attended the first few sessions of therapy and kept waiting for Adrian to wince in pain or say its not working. I held back tears when he told Ben, he could handle more weight!
I am pleased to report that Adrian is playing the game he loves pain free, without surgery! This would not have been possible without Ben and his expertise. Ben was able to connect with Adrian, and help him stabilize his shoulder and give him knowledge on how to prevent future problems.
My son's baseball future looked grim before working with Ben, he now sees many years of baseball in his future!
